Disarmed Project
Phase 1
aim for amity…
From confrontations to conversations, the socio-political distance between cops & the community has been wide. FACE KC (Film Arts & Creatives for Empowerment), a film-based non-profit, teamed up with AGA Productions & the Kansas City Police Department to Aim for Amity with the “Cops versus Community Rap Battle,” a musical short where these two powerful forces come together for the biggest showdown of the year: “Cops versus Community Rap Battle”.
Disarmed is phase 1 of 3 for the Kansas City Community Film Project.
The purpose of this project is to use art as a way to bridge gaps, breakdown barriers, and produce peaceful outcomes between communities.
From Kansas City, Missouri we plan to
launch globally.
the battle…
The “Cops versus Community Rap Battle” is Phase I of the Kansas City Community Film Project (KCCFP), which is an effort to explore the public’s belief about the tumultuous relationship between the police force & the community.
The footage captured here will contribute to Phase 3 of the KCCFP, a feature film with a narrative that draws on the strength of community & police heroes, featuring many local artists, filmed entirely in Kansas City, & will include hiring local Kansas City residents to assist in production of the film.
FACE KC joins hands with KCPD & the Kansas City community by utilizing the ever-sturdy bridge—art—to bring us together. The tumultuous conversations surrounding contemporary punitive experiences with policing keep us believing there are two sides.
FACE KC aims for amity by developing
a message of fostering unity, peace, & cooperation.
We aim for amity.
